National Holidays in New Zealand
New Zealand residents enjoy several public holidays each year.
Some public holidays are legislated by law, while others, known as Provincial Anniversary Days, commemorate the founding days of the New Zealand’s various provinces. While many stores and businesses trade on these days, they may operate on restricted hours. Most stores and business close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. In addition, as in Australia, stores only trade after 1 pm on ANZAC Day. However in some tourist centers, selected large stores trade on Boxing Day, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
