Hotels on Mykonos
Mykonos is such a crowded island during summer months that booking in advance is an absolute must. Greek Island travelers would be wise to reserve a room many months in advance.
For those who have not booked in advance, a private room may be the best solution. There are always local people who let visitors know of the rooms available on the island once the ferry arrives. However, since summer months are very crowded, it is best to visit Mykonos in spring or early autumn. Then visitors can get off-season hotel rates. However, bear in mind that a lot of hotels, restaurants, and shops are not open during wintertime.
In Hora, at the School of Fine Arts district, there is Belvedere Hotel with its magnificent views over the town and port. Prices start from 225 euros per night but they offer a discount. Matina Hotel has lower prices and is located at 3 Fornakion in Hora. However, it is closed from November through March. Philippi Hotel has even lower prices at 25 Kaloyera Street, and is in the center of Mykonos. The originality of this small hotel is that each room is different and offers a view over a small green garden.
For studios and pensions try the beaches at Paradise. However, since there is a scarcity of rooms prices are a lot higher in peak seasons. If you need air conditioned rooms go to Plati Yialos. Finally, if you need to rent a car, you can find several agencies.
